HBOT

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Take some time that's just for you. In our hyperbaric oxygen chamber you breathe concentrated oxygen while sitting back in a comfy recliner inside a pressurised hardshell chamber. It's quiet, calm and completely phone-free, so you can read, rest or just switch off.

New to it? Start with our 30 minute taster. We'll talk you through everything first, including how to clear your ears as the pressure changes, so you know exactly what to expect. Everyone completes a short screening and consent form before their first session, so we can make sure the chamber is right for you.

Our usual sessions are 60 minutes, and they are available to book as a 10 session course for further discount - sessions can be booked via the Pole Shed app or below,  contact us to arrange your course.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HBOT?

Hyperbaric oxygen means breathing concentrated oxygen while sitting in a pressurised chamber. Ours is a hardshell chamber with a comfy recliner, so you can sit back and relax for your session.

What does it feel like?

As the pressure builds you'll feel it in your ears, a bit like taking off in a plane. We'll show you how to clear them before you start, and we can slow things down at any point. Once you're at pressure most people find it really relaxing.

Should I try the taster first?

If you're unsure, yes. The 30 minute taster lets you see how you find the chamber and the pressure before booking a full session or course.

How many sessions do I need, and how often?

HBOT works best as a regular routine. Most people start with a course of 10 sessions, 3 to 5 a week across 2 to 4 weeks, then keep going with 1 to 2 sessions a week. We recommend no more than one session a day with a rest day in between if you're new to it. Everyone is different, so we're always happy to talk through what might suit you.

Can I do HBOT on the same day as a class?

Yes, but we recommend booking it after your class, not before. It also works really well as a standalone session when you just want some time for yourself.

Can anyone use it?

Everyone fills in a screening and consent form before their first session, so we can check the chamber is right for you. If anything on the form needs a second look, we may ask you to check with your GP first.

What if I have a cold?

Please rebook. A blocked nose or sinuses makes it hard to clear your ears, so it's much more comfortable to wait until you're feeling better.

What should I wear?

Comfortable cotton clothing is ideal. Please don't wear any lotions, oils, perfume or makeup.

What can I take in with me?

We ask that anything battery-operated stays outside the chamber. That includes phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers, earbuds and e-readers. Batteries aren't safe in a pressurised, oxygen-rich space, so we'll keep your things safe while you're in. Bring a paperback instead and enjoy some proper time out. If you need to wear something battery-powered, please speak to us before you book.

What happens when I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can go through everything with you and get you settled without rushing.

How do I book a course?

Courses are priced at your membership rate, so we book them in for you. Pop to the front desk or drop us a message. To keep the intro rate, all 10 sessions need to be booked in by 31/10, and the dates can run into November.  All sessions must have been booked withing 10 weeks of the first session.

What if I need to cancel?

It's the same as all our bookings. If you cancel more than 24 hours before your session, your credits go back into your account. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the credits are lost.
